For most conditions and most patients, surgery can be avoided altogether, delayed, or trialled against medical alternatives first. That’s a decision I want you involved in.
I’m a firm believer that you should be able to make your own informed choices about your care, including which risks you take and which you don’t. My job is to lay out every option and let you decide what’s right for you.
Depending on what’s going on for you, we might consider:
I would always prefer you avoid surgery wherever possible. It’s easy to see a surgeon and be be booked for surgery, but that is not always the correct thing for your personal circumstances.
If surgery is the right answer, we’ll get there together, informed and confident. If it’s not, we won’t.
